BEIJING (AP) ? China has expelled disgraced politician Bo Xilai from the country's top legislature, paving the way for criminal proceedings against him.
China's official Xinhua News Agency says the Standing Committee of Chongqing's Municipal People's Congress has decided to remove Bo from his post as deputy to the 11th National People's Congress.
Delegates to that body have immunity from arrest and prosecution.
Bo's removal is largely a formality after he was ousted from the Communist Party on Friday, accused of crimes including taking bribes and abusing his power.
Bo's fall from grace has been spectacular. He had been a prime candidate for a top post in China's leadership until a scandal broke involving his wife's murder of a British businessman.

Seattle Archbishop J. Peter Sartain released a 4-minute video on the church's website warning voters that if Referendum 74 is approved and gays are allowed to marry, that "society would be harmed beyond repair."
Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...
Says Sartain, in solidarity with all the Catholics bishops in Washington:
"We urge our Catholic people to uphold our consistent Catholic teaching on marriage for the good of the Church, society, husbands and wives and their children. Therefore, we bishops reject the redefinition of marriage as a 'civil contract between two persons.' ... Redefining marriage as a means of dealing with important issues of equality and respect for all persons will not achieve the goal of defending the rights of all and would overturn centuries of common law. To suddenly change the God-given and time honored understanding of marriage would be a very harmful thing for our state and for the world. ? Should marriage be redefined in our state the very foundational nature of marriage for the good and strength of human society would be harmed beyond repair."

NEW YORK (AP) ? Google is expected to surpass Facebook in display advertising revenue this year, beating all other competitors with a 15.4 percent share of the U.S. market, according to a closely followed research firm.
EMarketer said Thursday that it expects Google Inc. to generate $2.31 billion in revenue from online display ads ? the graphical advertisements people see on websites. Display ads are more lucrative than the text-based advertisements that appear next to search results and account for the bulk of Google's revenue.
The New York-based research firm predicts Facebook Inc. will hold 14.4 percent of the market this year with $2.16 billion in U.S. revenue.
In February, eMarketer predicted Facebook would stay ahead of Google. The social networking company had surpassed Google a year earlier. But Facebook's ad revenue has fallen short of the expectations it set in February, just months before its initial public offering.
Google, eMarketer said, is helped by strength in its advertising network, video ads on YouTube and AdMob, the mobile advertising service it bought in 2010. Facebook began showing mobile ads to users only as recent as this year.
In all, eMarketer expects the display advertisement market to grow 21.5 percent this year to nearly $15 billion in the U.S., helped by both Facebook and Google. By 2014, the two rivals are expected hold as much as 37 percent of the market, making it difficult for smaller players.
In 2011, Facebook had a 14.1 percent share of the $12.4 billion U.S. display advertising market according to eMarketer, above Google's 13.5 percent. A year earlier, though, Yahoo Inc. held the lead with 14 percent of the market. By 2014, eMarketer expects Yahoo's share to be half that. In the coming years, market share among former online powerhouses such as Yahoo, AOL and Microsoft is likely to decrease as Google and Facebook grow, according to eMarketer.
Facebook's stock slid 39 cents to $22.90 in morning trading. Google dropped $3.68 to $723.82.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) ? Nearly two years after President Barack Obama ordered 33,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan to tamp down the escalating Taliban violence, the last of those surge troops have left the country, U.S. officials said Thursday.
The withdrawal, which leaves 68,000 American forces in the warzone, comes as the security transition to Afghan forces is in trouble, threatened by a spike in so-called insider attacks in which Afghan Army and police troops, or insurgents dressed in their uniforms, have been attacking and killing U.S. and NATO forces.
And it's called into question the core strategy that relies on NATO troops working shoulder to shoulder with Afghans, training them to take over the security of their own country so the U.S. and its allies can leave at the end of 2014 as planned.
The number of U.S. forces there peaked at about 101,000 last year, and they have been coming out slowly over the past several months.
The surge was aimed at beating back the Taliban to give the Afghan government and its security forces the time and space to take hold. The key goal was to ensure that the Taliban did not regain a foothold in the country that could allow it once again to become a safe haven for terror groups. And there was hope that Taliban members would be willing to come to the peace table.
Military commanders say the war strategy is on track and that they have made broad gains against the Taliban, wresting control of areas where the insurgents once had strong footholds. And U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has characterized the insider attacks as the last gasp of a desperate insurgency.
But other top military leaders, including U.S. Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, are worried about the impact of the attacks on the troops. Dempsey called them a "very serious threat" to the war campaign and has declared that "something has to change."

After Rams running back Steven Jackson left Sunday?s win over the Redskins in the second quarter, it widely was believed that he?d been benched for spiking the football in frustration and drawing a 15-yard penalty.
After the game, coach Jeff Fisher said that Jackson has an injured groin, but that he could have re-entered the game.
Regardless of whether Jackson could have returned to the game, he has now missed two days of practice.
?He did not practice today and we?ll have him on the injury report for you on Friday,? Fisher told the media on Thursday.
Fisher added that he doesn?t have a policy that requires a player to practice in order to play.? Jackson said he has played with worse injuries.
?I?m not 100 percent, but day-to-day,? Jackson said. ?The injury is not as significant as we once thought it was and we?re just going to go from there. I still have the three days before the game, I believe. Each and every day buys me time.?
It?d be interesting to know when the Rams specifically thought the injury was significant.? The fact that the Rams gave no in-game injury update on Jackson could pique the league?s interest in that regard, too.
Nine years ago, former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan was fined for reporting during a game that quarterback Jake Plummer had left with a concussion when, in reality, Plummer had a separated shoulder.? Shanahan said at the time that he lied in order to conceal the true nature of the injury from the Chargers, in the event the team?s other quarterback (Steve Beuerlein) had gotten injured, forcing Plummer back into the game.? (And, yes, in 2003 a guy could re-enter a game with a concussion.)
?To share with somebody that Jake has a separated shoulder and could not throw and our quarterback goes down, we have a good chance to lose the football game,? Shanahan said at the time.
In this case, with Shanahan on the other sideline, Fisher likely didn?t want the Redskins to think that Jackson was injured in any way, in the event that he had to re-enter the game.? And despite the friendship between Shanahan and Fisher, Shanahan should be asking 345 Park Avenue whether Fisher will be making the same involuntary contribution to the NFL?s charities that Shanahan once did.

Leading business strategist talks ?reverse innovation? with Mays faculty and students
?More value, lower price??While the phrase may sound like a gimmicky slogan used by companies to lure you in their store, it?s actually the profound and substantial mantra of Vijay Govindarajan?s revolutionary concept, ?reverse innovation.?
Dartmouth?s Vijay Govindarajan spoke about his concept of ?reverse innovation? during the 2012 Dean?s Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series. (view more photos)
Govindarajan, widely known as VG, spoke at Mays Business School as a part of the 2012 Dean?s Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series. Dean Jerry Strawser states the purpose of the series is ?to bring speakers here to change the way we think and look at business??and VG is the world?s trailblazer of disruptive thinking.
Currently the Earl C. Daum 1924 Professor of International Business and the Founding Director of the Center for Global Leadership at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, VG has come a long way from his humble beginnings in a poor family and small village in India. He is the 2008 Professor-in-Residence and Chief Innovation Consultant for General Electric, and has worked with 25 percent of the Fortune 500 corporations including: Boeing, Coca-Cola, Colgate, Deere, FedEx, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, J.P. Morgan Chase, Johnson & Johnson, New York Times, Procter & Gamble, Sony and Wal-Mart as a strategy coach. In addition, the innovation maven has a portfolio of prestigious accolades, including a ranking of #3 on the Thinkers 50 list of the world?s most influential business thinkers.
VG has published several award-winning books on strategy and innovation, his most recent being the New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling book, Reverse Innovation. In his lecture, VG described the avant-garde concept of ?reverse innovation? as ?innovating in poor countries and selling in rich,? unpacking the idea with several thought-provoking examples.
?In America,? VG says, ?an ECG machine costs about $25,000. How can rural India afford this?? He explained that GE recently set out to create a more efficient, $500 portable ECG machine that cost five cents a scan, ?conquering rural India.? VG discussed other examples of innovating for the poor, including an Indian hospital that reduced the cost of open-heart surgery from $50,000 to $2,000, increasing the quality of the procedures by ?mass-producing heart surgery? and allowing surgeons to specialize in specific operations. VG also used the example of Thailand?s Dr. J, who developed a more durable $30 (versus the U.S. average cost of $20,000) artificial leg made from recycled plastic yogurt containers. ?Amputee technicians approached the job with passion, not as work,? VG says.
Vijay Govindarajan (left) and Mays Dean Jerry Strawser (view more photos)
VG?s examples all point back to his original idea ? companies must develop products with ?a lot more value, at a lot lower cost.? If companies were to adopt this idea, VG says, they would tap into new, much more populated markets of poor, yet fully capable and intelligent people. ?Not even Apple can deny the billions of dollars in sales from creating a $10 iPod Nano and selling it to the millions in poorer countries.
VG took the concept of reverse innovation and applied it to housing. ?A house should be a human right,? he says. He developed the idea of a ?$300 house??a house for the poor and homeless that cost $300, including labor and materials to build it. What started as a brief blog post for Harvard Business School, the idea of a $300 house has expanded into its own website and has picked up followers from around the world. Passionate people have submitted numerous plans for the house concept and multiple influential leaders and businesses endorse the idea.
According to VG, poor people have the same desires and needs as the rich, ?So why can?t they have access to the same things?? The ?American dominant logic? in poorer markets is no longer working, Govindarajan says, and reverse innovation is no longer optional for American companies. ?It?s no longer, ?What can America create for these countries?? The new question is, ?How can India help you???

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Democrats running for the House and Senate are pouncing on Mitt Romney's remarks that nearly half of all Americans think they are "victims" entitled to government help and that he doesn't worry about "those people."
"Mitt Romney and Dean Heller are reading from the same script when it comes to struggling middle-class families," said Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley, who is seeking to unseat Heller in Nevada's competitive Senate race.
"It's a troubling and shocking position to take, especially for a man running for president of the United States," said Annie Kuster, a New Hampshire Democrat hoping to oust Republican Rep. Charlie Bass in one of the country's most competitive House races. "Congressman Bass needs to make clear whether he supports this view and explain why he continues to campaign with a presidential candidate who is this out of touch with the American people."
A few Republicans immediately distanced themselves, particularly those in tight races.
Linda McMahon, the Republican Senate candidate in Connecticut, quickly disavowed Romney's remarks as her opponent, Rep. Chris Murphy, sought to tie her to Romney, releasing a statement talking about "the real McMahon-Romney agenda."
"I disagree with Gov. Romney's insinuation that 47 percent of Americans believe they are victims who must depend on the government for their care," said McMahon, who has narrowed the race to succeed retiring independent Joe Lieberman. "I know that the vast majority of those who rely on government are not in that situation because they want to be."
Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, facing a tough reelection fight against Democrat Elizabeth Warren, also quickly backed away from Romney: "That's not the way I view the world," he said.
Romney sent a ripple down-ballot when a secretly recorded video surfaced Monday of his remarks at a fundraiser in Boca Raton, Fla. on May 17.
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in the video. "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it."
"My job is not to worry about those people," Romney added. "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
Romney has neither disavowed nor apologized for his remarks, instead casting his comment as evidence of a fundamental difference with President Barack Obama over the economy. The federal government, he said, should not "take from some to give to the others."
But the pile-on had begun, bolstering Obama's case that Romney does not represent a middle class struggling amid high unemployment and a sluggish economy.
Democratic candidates took their lead from Obama, who declared Tuesday night that the occupant of the Oval Office must "work for everyone, not just for some."
Democratic candidates already were using Romney's statements ? made to a room of wealthy donors at a private fundraiser ? to raise campaign cash.
The campaign of Lois Frankel, seeking an open House seat in a district that includes Boca Raton, Fla., blasted an email to supporters under the subject line "Seriously?" It asked recipients to donate because "the same people who saw Mitt behind closed doors right here in Boca" are planning to fund attack ads.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that Romney's comment "clearly differentiates" him from Obama and said that "even Republicans disagree with the idea."
The California Democrat said in an interview on NBC's "Today" show that what Romney said "was disparaging to our whole system." She said he included in his statement people on Social Security and Medicare who "have paid into" the system.
Take Rep. Tammy Baldwin, the Democrat seeking Wisconsin's open Senate seat, who is running against former governor and Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson.
"The fact that Mitt Romney said behind closed doors that he doesn't care about half the people of this country reveals who he is and what he believes," Baldwin said.

Thus far, opponents have had two options when facing Ryback: run for their lives or be devoured trying to be the first to defeat him. (WATCH PLAYLIST)
One by one, WWE Superstars stepped into the ring with the musclebound behemoth and regretted their decision within mere seconds when they were folded up like an accordion by a running lariat. As his list of Shell Shocked victims grew, Ryback's appetite for "MORE" only became more insatiable. It was just a matter of time before he marched his way up the food chain.
On Monday night's Raw, Ryback set his sights on his most awesome target yet: The Miz. The talk show debut of "Miz TV" turned into a one-man wrecking showcase as Ryback demolished the set and hurled two couches at the Intercontinental Champion (VIDEO). Afterward, an irate Miz threw a temper tantrum backstage and demanded that Ryback needs to show respect to "one of the most decorated Superstars in all of WWE." (VIDEO)
It takes more than a couple of flying couches to intimidate The Miz, especially when he feels he's been belittled in his moment to shine. The WWE Triple Crown Champion rarely misses an opportunity to smite those who dare to upstage him, nor is he shy about stealing the spotlight away from a Superstar beloved by the WWE Universe.
Alex Riley and Daniel Bryan learned first-hand how vindictive Miz can be, as they went from prot?g?s to bitter rivals in the blink of an eye because they stood up to his massive ego. On the road to WrestleMania XXVII, The Miz even went so far as to pose as The Rock and brutally attack John Cena to prove a point that no one should ever look past him as WWE Champion. (VIDEO)
There's no question that Ryback is hungry for bigger and better challengers in his quest to be the most dominant Superstar in WWE. But is someone as painfully persistent as The Miz the right pick? Could Ryback be outmatched in a battle of brute force vs. devious mind games? While the 291-pound hulk is racking weights at the gym, you can bet the Intercontinental Champion is up nights plotting the most fiendish way to get payback over his "Miz TV" disaster.
After months of total destruction, Ryback's latest choice of prey may be the first that's too tough to sink his teeth into.
